Pay It Forward

Common Ground staff works continuously to help our community's older adult population remain independent in their own homes.  This program is just one example of the many months of work to make these transports a reality.  Donations are the only way to keep this program available so that others can utilize it for years to come.  Everyone can help the  next person who needs a ride by "paying it forward".

Volunteer Recruitment

Many of our transportation drivers are volunteers who have been trained to drive our modern fleet of handicap accessible buses and vans, or may use their own private vehicles.

The program is recruiting volunteers over the age of 18 with a valid driver's license, clean driving record, along with proof of registration and insurance.  Volunteers can choose to use their own vehicle, or utilize one of the agency's ADA vehicles.  Those using their own vehicles can receive mileage reimbursement.

If interested in becoming a volunteer driver, contact Common Ground Senior Services at (209) 498-2246.

Nothing defines personal freedom better than the ability to come and go whenever the need arises.  However, there may come a time when we must depend on others for our transport needs.  This can include a recent surgery, a temporary suspension of our driver's license due to health related issues, or we simply choose to give up our driver's license.  Whatever the reason, Common Ground Senior Services is here to assist with transportation needs for veterans, older adults and disabled individuals who reside in Amador and Calaveras County.
